We have had a busy month and really do mean to post updates more frequently, but we had quite a bit going on. Christmas was great and it really is better as a parent. This was the first year that Russ had an idea of what Christmas was and was anticipating the holiday. He was dying for a Toby train from the Thomas the Train series. For a month he nagged us everyday. Santa delievered, and Toby was played with for about two hours before he was cast into the train box with the other 30 trains that he has. Garen was totally overwhelmed and alternated between trying to eat the wrapping paper and having Russ scream at him for even looking at Russ's new toys. Deb and I got each other a few things and had a nice time. Deb's parents were visiting, so it really made the holiday better because our family was bigger than just the 4 of us.
Deb and I took advantage of the Mann's visit so that we could get a little alone time. We went hiking and snorkeling and it was great. We also took the boys to the water park with Nanna and Papa. They both got to play in the pools and we took Russ out on a kayak. Mom and Russ were in one kayak and Dad chased them in another kayak. It was a lot of fun.
The Manns left for the last part of their trip to Australia and Russ went on a trip to see some of his teams deployed. Now, everything is back to normal and is quiet again. Both boys have settled back into their routines and continue to thrive. Russ is now solving complex problems like determining where the M&Ms he saw us buy at the store might be hidden after a couple of days. No longer can we play ignorant about our candy stash. He is also stretching his authority and trying to tell Mommy and Daddy things like "NO!" and telling us what to do instead of doing what we tell him. He quickly finds himself on a quick trip to dicipline town for a brief visit. G is changing a lot right now and is developing mentally. Deb just figured out that he is waving to us and to other people. It is hard to tell, but it is a wave and it is cool that he is communicating with us and the outside world. He is also motoring everywhere on all fours and will be walking in no time. He was a pretty serious little guy up until the last month or so and now smiles all the time. He loves his brother and will follow him everywhere. Russ tolerates his companion and will even talk to him once in a while ;o)
That's it for now. We hope everyone is well and the next year is good to you.
